tacNET (training and certification network) virtualizes complex heterogenous network environments. The software was developed by OpenSource Security GmbH for training and certification purposes in realistic and practical scenarios.
tacNET is able to provide many different guests, such as Linux, Microsoft Windows, Cisco Router, etc. tacNET even provides the virtual environments including switches, firewalls, etc.
Using a simple web GUI complex network environments can be created with just one click. The whole environment or just one guest can be reset to their original state. Changes introduced by the student may be fully discarded.
tacNET creates a virtual environment for each student. All students see exactly the same guests and network environment including MAC and IP addresses. This very much simplifies the training excercises.
